We take the following measures to ensure our clients are fully satisfied when we improve their IT infrastructure:
A client was ready to modernize a legacy application. They hired a software development firm to handle the job, and tasked us with evaluating the proposal and the initial code commits. We delivered a comprehensive risk analysis to the client, who then worked with the vendor to mitigate these risks. The result was a more robust product.

Our client uses three cloud services: a learning management system, a survey collection app, and an email marketing tool. They needed a way for learners to receive an email when enrolled in a particular course, and for that email to link to a survey. Upon survey completion, the course must be marked complete. EMKAL studied the APIs and developed an integration connecting the three systems together, freeing up our client to concentrate on their educational mission instead of bookkeeping.

The warranty and licensing were expiring on two WatchGuard routers which provided firewall and failover tunnel services between client sites, and the cost of the renewal was significant. As an alternative to renewing, we proposed a pfSense solution that allowed for an on-site cold spare. The cost of the hardware, extensive rules and settings migration, and after-hours installation service was still less than the renewal price, and provided peace of mind for years to come.

Anyone can migrate to RingCentral or Teams Voice, but EMKAL aims to reduce future switching costs by prioritizing the use of commodity cloud services. For example, a client of our had an aging and out-of-support Nortel BCM system and physical phone lines in their office. This system did not offer modern conveniences like work-from-home. We ported their numbers into a cloud Voice-Over-IP provider and setup an open-source cloud PBX. Now, for a fraction of the cost, they enjoy extension dialing anywhere in the world, voicemail transcriptions in their inbox, and precisely tailored call flows to maximize client satisfaction.

As your size and space needs change, we grow with you. From security controls like cameras and door access to network cabling and server rack installation, we handle your IT moves, so your staff are set up and working from day 1. Our on-site and proactive approach allows us to spot and solve hurdles before they become showstoppers. For example, a recent client move involved a fibre build that wasn’t going to be completed on time. We liaised with a telecommunications company to install temporary 5G coverage as a stopgap, and then maintained the 5G as redundant internet on-going.

A new client was experiencing problems with their door access control system where doors would randomly stop working without obvious cause. We developed a custom integration with our proprietary asset monitoring software that allowed us to receive instant notifications when a door went offline, which allowed us to solve the problem at the root in each instance.

With a new client, we inherited several virtual machines, some redundant, spread across five physical servers. Through a combination of server hardware consolidation, firmware optimization, and decommissioning redundant virtual machines, we were able to remove three physical servers from the environment and improve overall performance. This saved our client thousands in warranty renewals and server maintenance support, not to mention electricity and cooling costs.
